My name is Yi-Ching Huang. There are four members in my family. My father is a responsible and honest merchant. I learn from him that it is no use blaming others when something bad happens, and that what counts is to correct the errors in a proper way. My mother is a career woman. I think she is a wonderful woman. When my brother and I were little children, she not only took good care of us but also did well in her work. What she did makes me believe that there is nothing I can't do with effort. My elder brother is a student, who majors in Geomatics at National Cheng Kung University. He teaches me lots of things. I think he is not only my brother but also my good teacher and friend. I am lucky to have this lovely family.

School Life

I am studying at Department of Applied Foreign Languages in National Tainan Commercial Vocational Senior High School. I am glad to have so many lovely classmates to learn and experience a great deal of activities together. They are so humorous and kind to me. Because of them, I feel it is interesting to go to school.

Since I was a child, I have had a big crush on English. I found English very interesting and I have been curious about this language – how amazing it is that everything could be expressed by the 26 letters in the alphabet! This is why I chose it as my major. I have always believed in the saying 「No pain, no gain.」 Since it is very important for a person who wants to succeed to make efforts, I ask myself to learn everything to the best of my ability. Thus, I always pay attention to what my teachers teach in class, taking notes of key points and study hard after class. As a result, my academic performance has been not bad.

During the three years, I served as the Hygienic section chief for last four semesters. Within the four semesters, I've learned how to distribute jobs properly and fairly and numerous tips and knowledge about cleaning. For example, I used to use the newspaper to clean the windows before I knew that using newspaper to clean window would scratch glasses. I think it is really a good job for me because I've learned a lot from it.

As to my extracurricular activities, I enjoyed playing volleyball with my friends. We always play volleyball games with other students in my school. In these games, I made friends with many people, expanded my social circles, and learned what is called teamwork. I also like to listen to English songs in my leisure time, and try to understand and memorize the lyrics. By doing this, I have improved my English listening ability a lot.

I love English very much and I want to take more advanced courses of English. I know learning English is not easy and English can not be learned well within a short time. However, I believe that if I do my best, my effort will pay off at last.

I am Lin. Sophia is my English name. I am 18 years old, studying in a public girls’ high school. I come from a very happy middle class family. My father works in a bank and my mother works in a bookstore. I am not the so-called spoiled child. My parents make very sure of that by training me to be independent.

Throughout my academic career I have not only gotten good grades but also been very active on sport field and have involved in various societies. I play volleyball and enjoy the team spirit we have. I have joined the drama club and participated in many English speech contests. I really enjoy participating in school activities. I not only made many friends, but also gained many different valuable experiences.

I have been the class English tutor for almost three years. I like to discuss and share the experience of learning English with people a lot. My fondness for English is developed from my childhood. It’s lonely to be the only child. I had no one to play with when I was a kid. My mom knew this so she took me with her all the time. Hence bookstores became my playground and books have been my playmates since I was young. My mom would show me those fancy books with cute illustrations on it. Firstly I was drawn by the pictures and then I was curious about these strange symbols called words. That was my first contact with English. As I was interested what those symbol meant, my parents taught me a bit. As they felt that I was eager to learn, they found me an English tutor. Thanks to my parents got the advantage of learning English by starting it at really early age.

My interest in English brought me to the world of English literature. I have been enchanted by this creative world since then, so I decide to major in English literature. My aim is to explore the world of literature and the world of great writers, to open my eyes and cultivate my mind through this great world of literature.

Besides English literature, I also have a wide range of hobbies. I love reading, Writing, music and movies. I have my active side as well, I enjoy swimming, hiking, raveling and going to the nature a lot. I believe we must have balance in our lives, As to my personality. I am creative, optimistic, determined, willing to help others and down to earth.

I am Toa. My English name is Angela. I am 17 years old. I am from Taipei First Girls’ High School. I come from a well-to-do family. My mother passed away when I was in my first junior high year. My father is a computer engineer who remarried again three years ago. My grandparents live with us as well. My family manages to get along pretty well.

Throughout my school years, my academic results have always been pretty good expected in second half of first year and first half of the second year, because my mother’s death was such an anguish to me. It took me more than a year to get better. My father was afraid that I would turn bad after that. So he encouraged me to join many extra-curriculum activities. He sent me to piano class, ballet class and art class.
His purpose was to see that through music and art, I would find a way to let my pain go so that my heart would be comforted and my pain would ease away. I am very grateful to my father’s caring and thoughtful consideration. Since then music has been my spiritual guide, gradually becoming my most intimate companion.

In my high school years, I have taken any chance to participate in school activities. I join the chorus and jazz club, and participate in plenty of contests and performing for many occasions. We have won many contests and had been invited by city mayor to perform in the city hall. I am also the, member of art club, I enjoy sketch and painting very much.
Every time when I have chance I would go to Music Theater to listen to symphony and orchestra performance. There’s not once I would not be moved by the music. Several years ago, I took a trip to Australia and had many good memories. From then on, I decided that one day I would migrate there. Here are several reasons for why I made the decision. One of the reasons is that the weather there is always cool or cold which is my favorite weather. Besides, people there are so friendly that I need not worry that I would be edged out. Moreover, I was elected to be the owner of Great Barrier Reef which made me have no need to worry about the costly charges there. The most important of all is that there are varieties of food such as Chinese local food so I will not suffer from foodsick. Now, I have already packed my luggage and I will fly to Australia tomorrow.

In our daily life, we must listen to many songs. Among these songs, the lyrics in them may be interesting, funny, touching and so on. To me, the song called “Happy Birthday” does really mean a lot to me even though it’s a common song and there are just four words in it. Every time I hear this song, I always feel pleased because it symbols my friends’ and my relatives’ love and consideration for me. Every time I see my scar on my leg, I cannot but tremble. The scar was made in a windy night. That night, my mom cooked in the kitchen as usual and then my family had dinner with pleasure. We talked a lot about our future and shared our dreams. ”Ding-dong!” ”Ding-dong!” Our bell rang and my father went to open the door. About five minutes later, my mom and I felt confused because we didn’t hear any voice after my father went to open the door. Then we went to the door to see who had come. What we saw there was three thieves and my father having already passed out. Mom was so afraid that she screamed stridently. This way caused one of the thieves to notice us, and soon we were captured by him with a gun. The thief asked my mom to give him one million dollars at once or he would kill we family, and then he had my mom take out the money. As soon as my mom went to take the money, she secretly called the police. However, what she did was found by a fat thief and he was so nervous and angry that he took out his gun and shot to my mom. Immediately I ran to my mom and blocked the bullet. Luckily, the police came at once and arrested the three thieves. However,the gunshot wound left a scar on my leg; sometimes, it still causes me to feel irritated . I think I would never forget that terrible night in my life.

Besides, it will raise the crime rate if many people are going to move to the community, and therefore the town will no longer be secure.  Then the town will no longer be secure. Although it will bring lots of jobs, I think the dwellers can establish some tourist spots to make the economic growth. Judging from these negative effects, I am opposed to opening a factory in Acton.

Due to the two reasons, I consider that no one would find his shop except for frequent customers and neighbors. Last but not the least, he would not accept checks and cards. Furthermore, the environment in OROR was as tidy, clean and quiet as RORO. The servers at OROR were attentive. In my opinion, I think the death penalty is in need of existing because of several reasons below. First, if there is no death penalty, people may think that they can kill anyone. It will surely cause the world in a state of chaos. Second, it's really unfair for those who are killed. Although, the Human Rights organization insists that no one can convict the criminals to death because they have their human rights, I think they must not consider that when the criminals kill others, have they thought of others' human rights? I believe that the answer is no for the reason that if they have, then they should not kill other people. Third, if the murderer is in prison instead of being sentenced to death, he/she will waste lots of national resources. With the number of murderers increasing, they will cause a big financial problem for a country. Taking into account all of these points, it should be clear that the death penalty is necessary.

It will surely cause the world in a state of chaos.Second, it's really unfair for those who are killed. Although, the Human Rights organization insist that no one can convict the criminals to death because they have their human rights, I think they must not consider that when the criminals kill others, have they thought of others' human rights? I believe that the answer is no for the reason that if they have, then they should not kill other people. Third, if the murderer lives in prison instead of being sentenced to death, he/she will waste lots of national resources. As the number of murderers increasing, they will cause a big financial problem for a country. Taking into account all of these points, it should be clear that the death penalty is necessary.

There are some reasons for why I would hire Lynn Whitnall for the job. First of all, although Debra has more education then Lynn, Lynn still had been an English Instructor. Because of this, I think Lynn must be good at English and have enough sense about the job. Besides, Lynn had been a volunteer but Debra hadn't. I think a person who had been a volunteer is more willing to help others. I consider it is what a instructor need to do. Most important of all, Lynn is fluent in Spanish, French and Japanese. However, Debra is only fluent in French. An instructor who can speak more than one language can introduce to more people. For the reasons above, I'd like to hire Lynn Whitnall instead of  Debra.

Fairfax Apartments and Campus Apartments differ in several ways. First of all, there are two large bedrooms in Fairfax, but there is only one bedroom in Campus. I think live in a large bedroom is more comfortable than in a moderate bedroom. Besides, Fairfax is furnished but Campus is not. This makes it much more inconvenient to live in Campus because you will need to spend time shopping for new furniture. Although pets are not allowed in Fairfax which is different from Campus, I think it is not a problem for me because I don’t like to keep any pets. Finally, the rent for Fairfax is $1250/month which is more expensive than the rent for Campus. But I can share the other room with my friend if I choose Fairfax. If I do this, I can just pay $625 for a month. I think I will choose Fairfax and now I have to ask my friend to live with me.

When I was in Ilan last week, I ate at two restaurants which were really different. I had lunch at RORO Italiana and dinner at OROR Café. First of all, both of the pastas at RORO and OROR were so delicious that I even ordered two pieces. Also, the atmosphere at OROR Café was really comfortable, and so was RORO. Furthermore, the environment in OROR was as tidy, clean and quiet as RORO. The server at OROR was attentive. Likewise, the server at RORO was attentive .I can’t wait to introduce my friends the tasty food at the two restaurants.

In our daily life, we must listen to many songs. Among these songs, the lyrics in them may be interesting, funny, touching and so on. To me, the song called “Happy Birthday” does really mean a lot to me even though it’s a common song and there are just four words in it. Every time I hear this song, I always feel pleased because it symbols my friends’ and my relatives’ love and consideration for me. Also, it makes me realize that I have grown up one year old and I will face new challenges and changes. Moreover, I know I should be more mature and responsible for myself. The most terrible night in my life. Revised1

Every time I see my scar on my leg, I cannot but tremble. The scar was made in a windy night. That night, my mom cooked in the kitchen as usual and then my family had dinner with pleasure. We talked a lot about our future and shared our dreams. ”Ding-dong!” ”Ding-dong!” Our bell rang and my father went to open the door. About five minutes later, my mom and I felt confused because we didn’t hear any voice after my father went to open the door. Then we went to the door to see who had come. What we saw there was three thieves and my father having already passed out. Mom was so afraid that she screamed stridently. This way caused one of the thieves to notice us, and soon we were captured by him with a gun. The thief asked my mom to give him one million dollars at once or he would kill we family, and then he had my mom take out the money. As soon as my mom went to take the money, she secretly called the police. However, what she did was found by a fat thief and he was so nervous and angry that he took out his gun and shot to my mom. Immediately I ran to my mom and blocked the bullet. Luckily, the police came at once and arrested the three thieves. However,the gunshot wound left a scar on my leg; sometimes, it still causes me to feel irritated . I think I would never forget that terrible night in my life.

I have had a dream which was filled with ridiculousness and fun. In the dream, I was studying in my classroom. Suddenly, I saw a helicopter hanging a large building flying very speedy toward my school. Being unable to stand the strong attack from the helicopter, my school collapsed and fell into Taiwan Strait! However, it wasn't the end of my dream. My school turned into a machine kingdom instantly and everyone was still alive. I became the Rock Woman and had to struggle with the monster. We fought on a strange place where was moving down fast. The monster was running after me and then it waved its weapon to me. Luckily, I dodged and started to fire x-ray to it. Unfortunately, I ran out of my energy of x-ray then I ran into a big hole in front of me. After I ran into the hole, I realized that the hole was the end of a conveyor! I saw a sign which read "Game over", then I woke up. I think it was such a funny and excited dream that I have ever had.
