Family Background
My name is Yi-Ching Huang. There are four members in my family. My father is a responsible and honest merchant. I learn from him that it is no use blaming others when something bad happens, and that what counts is to correct the errors in a proper way. My mother is a career woman. I think she is a wonderful woman. When my brother and I were little children, she not only took good care of us but also did well in her work. What she did makes me believe that there is nothing I can't do with effort. My elder brother is a student, who majors in Geomatics at National Cheng Kung University. He teaches me lots of things. I think he is not only my brother but also my good teacher and friend. I am lucky to have this lovely family.
School Life
I am studying at Department of Applied Foreign Languages in National Tainan Commercial Vocational Senior High School. I am glad to have so many lovely classmates to learn and experience a great deal of activities together. They are so humorous and kind to me. Because of them, I feel it is interesting to go to school.
Since I was a child, I have had a big crush on English. I found English very interesting and I have been curious about this language – how amazing it is that everything could be expressed by the 26 letters in the alphabet! This is why I chose it as my major. I have always believed in the saying 「No pain, no gain.」 Since it is very important for a person who wants to succeed to make efforts, I ask myself to learn everything to the best of my ability. Thus, I always pay attention to what my teachers teach in class, taking notes of key points and study hard after class. As a result, my academic performance has been not bad.
During the three years, I served as the Hygienic section chief for last four semesters. Within the four semesters, I've learned how to distribute jobs properly and fairly and numerous tips and knowledge about cleaning. For example, I used to use the newspaper to clean the windows before I knew that using newspaper to clean window would scratch glasses. I think it is really a good job for me because I've learned a lot from it.
As to my extracurricular activities, I enjoyed playing volleyball with my friends. We always play volleyball games with other students in my school. In these games, I made friends with many people, expanded my social circles, and learned what is called teamwork. I also like to listen to English songs in my leisure time, and try to understand and memorize the lyrics. By doing this, I have improved my English listening ability a lot.
Self-evaluation
I think I am an easy-going girl, simple and somewhat straight-forward. I do not have sharp or trenchant personality and am not the sort of person who is eager to be the best in every aspect. Instead, I am quite approachable, cordial, genial and sincere to friends. As a result, I have many true-hearted friends. Besides, due to my optimistic character, I always look on the bright side whenever I face obstacles. When my friends get into trouble, they always like to share it with me. In my spare time, I enjoy reading novels, watching films, surfing the internet to search news and chatting with friends. Plus, I also enjoy music, especially western pop music.
About my criteria to life, I always believe that I can do everything as I pay efforts. Therefore, I really admire Nick Vujicic. Although he has no arms and legs, he always tries his best to learn everything. It is his story that makes me believe that life is without limitation.
Future Perspective
In my future, I will still choose English as my major in college not only for I have developed a great interest in English but for I want to improve my English ability, especially my oral speaking skill. I hope one day I can talk to a foreigner face to face without feeling nervous, so I'd like to take the courses about training students' oral speaking skill. I believe the excellent faculty and the perfect facilities in your school will help me polish my English ability a lot, so I aspire to be admitted to your school. In addition, I know your school is famous for its commercial subjects. As a result, I believe I can learn not only occupational competence of English but professional business knowledge.
Conclusion
I love English very much and I want to take more advanced courses of English. I know learning English is not easy and English can not be learned well within a short time. However, I believe that if I do my best, my effort will pay off at last.
